So, for those of you who may not know, I teach Graphic Design, and in the course of trying to appear knowledgable to my students I tend to stumble across some rather brilliant designs. According to Eye Magazine, we could be in a Golden Age of type right now, although some designers, including Jeffery Keedy, disagree. Based on what I've seen, I come down more on the pro side of the argument.

Good news, friends. My little piece of writing for Friendship Island is going to appear on the poster for the exhibition – thanks Nicola – the Let's Get Together and Feel Alright show is going to be great. I am now a member of Friendship Island, a new project by Nicola Hardy. All of Nicola's friends were asked to contribute a piece of writing around the concept of the island, responding to one or all of a series of questions, e.g. what is your idea of utopia? The writing, together with drawings of all members of the island, will be exhibited at First Draft in Sydney from 10th – 27th of December.

Last night I went to see Baltimore duo Beach House at the Toff. This gig was better than the Wintertones show at Roxanne for a number of reasons:1. It was not stiflingly hot or overcrowded2. I did not have to queue for an hour to get in with my pre-booked tickets3. I did not as a result miss three bands I wanted to see4. The box office staff stamped all our wrists without having to be reminded5.
